Basic Packing Tips , Make A 12x12x12 Priority Shipping Box , Pack A Cookie Jar , Pack A Plate or Platter ,

This is a tutorial on how to pack a Cookie Jar, or simular item for shipping.
I also use this method for vases, & canisters as well.
It is very much like double boxing, except you only need one box!
Because, the chances of having two boxes, the exact size you need to fit your item plus fit inside each other with room for 2 inches of padding, is so unlikely . . .
I've have people ask how I do it, so here ya go.

1. Wrap jar and lid (if there is one) seperately with bubble wrap.
Use two layers of bubblewrap, or one layer of bubble wrap, and then another layer of paper.

2. Roll in cardboard, (corrigated is best) cut to a length about 3 inches longer than the jar at each end. Then tape it around the widest part.
Stand it up on a piece of cardboard, and trace the circle with a pencil, then cut two of these circles.
Placing the jar on it's side, make sure it is in the center, and insert a circle in one end. Do the bottom or the end with the widest part, first.

3. With a knife, cut from the circle straight up every couple of inches or so.

4. Fold in the edges opposing each other first.

The bottom is finished.

5. Turn it over, and remember when I said to do the widest end (usually the bottom) first? This is because you want to fill any voids with packing peanuts before placing the other circle inside.
Then repeat steps 3 & 4

Almost done.

Now place in box that will allow a couple inches on each side, and fill with peanuts!!

Now, the chance of breakage is greatly reduced. A truck would actually have to run over it, to hurt it.
and if somehow UPS, Fed Ex, or USPS manages to crush this puppy, they will not be able to deny an insurance claim.

Stay tuned for my packing teacups tutorial . . .
